Hi there!

My name’s Christina and welcome to my personal blog. I’m a wife, mom and dog mom living and working in Toronto. Here I share my thoughts, experiences, reviews and favourite things.

Breakfast at Maha's

Brentley and I have eaten at several restaurants close to home, in and around The Beaches and Greektown. One place Brentley’s had on his must-try list for quite some time was Maha’s, a family-owned Egyptian brunch spot. Every time he drove by, there would always be a lengthy line of people outside waiting to get seated (the restaurant doesn’t accept reservations). This morning we decided to finally visit Maha’s too see what all the fuss was about. We arrived fairly early, just after they opened their doors and immediately secured one of the last few tables in the small space.

The restaurant had a very cozy and inviting atmosphere, with plants, art prints and decorative trinkets adorning the walls, and colourful cushions at a handful of tables.

I ordered the hazelnut latte to accompany my breakfast. The rim was lined with a thick coat of Nutella, which at some point hilariously wound up all over my jacket, sweater and pants (Brentley was thrilled that I was the victim of food stains for once!). Despite the mess, it was delicious!

I had the Sunny Eggs and Foole, while Brentley ordered the Egyptian Falafel. They were packed with flavour and we both finished our plates. I’m so glad we somehow managed to haul our asses out of bed early enough on a Saturday for breakfast at this hidden gem, and avoiding a line-up outside in the rain was a sweet bonus. We’ll definitely be back for their sandwiches and seasonal dishes!
